Becki Newton

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton was raised at Guilford, Connecticut. Her parents are of English as well as Czech descent. She began her career at local theaters. for European History. Newton was one of the Penn pupil, was also in the fraternity Alpha Chi Omega. Newton following her graduation from Penn University in 2006, moved into New York City where she got TV roles for organizations like Olive Garden. Newton played the role of Amanda Tanen in the comedy-drama series Ugly Betty from 2006 to the year 2010. Newton along with her co-star Michael Urie co-hosted The Official Ugly Betty Blog. Newton also appeared on ABC.com ?Ts Mode After Hours series of webisodes. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010. It was after four consecutive seasons that were successful, that allowed the show an appropriate series conclusion. Newton was a guest at the New York City Center's Encores show in the late 2009. Jerry Zaks was the director of this Gershwin production, Girl Crazy. She played Molly Gray opposite her real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton was also a part of Love Bites, a television series. This romantic comedy lasted for an hour and was developed by the executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked on Sex and the City. NBC has picked the series up at the end of May in 2010 however, due to the announcement of Newton's pregnancy, Jordana Spiro's commitment to contractually to be on the show with My Boys and the show being cancelled later, and Chupack not wanting to go on Love Bites, the premiere was pushed back to midseason.
